The Vespid 25mm in its 45-50mm role on MFT is a thing.
Very happy.
It has the same character and feel as the 40mm, maybe better controlled under stress, maybe not.
In the name of not giving a lens a decent chance, no hood, and a Glimmerglass 1/8 filter on.
Foreground and background Bokeh, crucial for a cine lens, is very settled.
Off axis flare wide open is easy enough to tame.
Stright into the sun, the blobs are mostly from filters, so I might take them off for this type of shot, were I to try it in real situations.
Lovely video coiour and contrast, keeping in mind the GG filter..
Yep, happy to call this the MFT standard or optional full frame wide.
I am slightly tempted to get another Vespid, but to be honest, covering 25-80 across my cameras, I cannot think what camera I would like.
What do you want from a cine lens?
High levels of sharpness without hard sharpness
Bokeh and focus breathing that support front and back transitions, make the lens invisible.
Contrast that can adapt to the needs of the shoot, punchy when needed, smooth and mild by default.
Consistency across a set.
Cinematographer grade handling.
Stills glass can give oyu sharp and contrasty, but lack subtlety and gentleness. They call too much attention to themselves. The Vespids have all of these characteristics in balance.
Maybe a Simera for a different look?
